Solving Difficult Insulating Problems
With
Sprayed Foam
This is our page for showing how to solve difficult insulating
problems with Icynene® foam
insulation. We have solved hundreds of difficult problems,
but never realized we should photograph them beforehand. Bear with
us. We will add additional pictures to this page as quickly as possible.
But, since a picture is worth a thousand words, we think you'll get the idea
from the "two thousand words worth" of pictures shown below:

BEFORE: With traditional
insulations, this area would be impossible to insulate.
These BEFORE and AFTER pictures below demonstrate the amazing ability of our sprayed expanding
foam to fill those hard-to-reach places that traditional insulators can't reach. In
the BEFORE photo (above) a band joist is inaccessible because a floor joist was only
1/4" from the top plate of the wall. Cold air would leak into this area unchecked for
as long as the house was standing. We explained to the owner how we could
fix the problem with Icynene® foam, and he was eager to have us give it a shot
(literally!). He even drilled a few holes for us as shown.
In the AFTER photo (below) you can see the results when we
sprayed Icynene®into the opening. Within 10 seconds the foam expanded,
completely filling the band joist cavity, and the excess squirted back out
through the crack and the holes at our installer. When the excess foam
shoots back out the holes, it is proof that the cavity is completely filled and
insulated. And that one more difficult insulation problem has been solved...with
sprayed foam.

AFTER: Problem solved...with

foam!
You can imagine the number of places in a home where the
expanding nature of spray foam would be beneficial. Just a few are:
